Brief introduction on forensic science of Sun yet-sen University

The department of forensic medicine of Sun Yat-sen University located in the forensic building in the north campus of Sun Yat-sen University . It was created by prof. Zhu Jiazhen，Guo Yongyuan and prof. Zhu Xiaoman and currently leaded by prof. Chen Yuchuan . The faculty consists of two section: department of forensic pathology facility and department of forensic biology . There are altogether 32 personnels working in it, of them, 2 is professor, 6 is associate professor ,14 are lecturer and the rest is technicians.

The main aim of the faculty is provide a good place and atmosphere to learn forenisic medical knowledge for undergraduate and postgraduate and carrying out high quality research work and society service centres on forensic science. It has been one of the fastest growing provider of forensic medicine eduation of china and has a pretty cultivation system which could cultivate undergraduate, master, doctor and post-doctor. Every year it will dealt with over 5,000 cases and . It also made great achievement in several research field such as heart transmitting system and the determination of postmortem interval which made the department owe more richer academy background. There are 5 events indicate the development of the department:

1. In 1979, it was permiteed to enrolling undergraduate student;

2. 1n 1984, it was was permited to became a faculty;

3. In 1998, a service centor under it was founded;

4. In 1999 it was appraised to be the key discipline of Guangdong province;

5. In 2003 a forensic institute under it was setup.
